Meet The Robinson's Dinner

This was quite possibly the easiest themed dinner I've ever done!  It was our first time  watching "Meet The Robinson's" with Olivia and when it was over she just said, "that's a good movie."  I call that a successful theme night!

For dinner we had Invention PB&J Sandwiches, T-Rex Chicken Nuggets, Lewis's Disguise Fruit Hat, Goob's Juice Box and The Man in the Bowler Hat Cookies.

Invention PB&J Sandwiches

T-Rex Chicken Nuggets
Dino nuggets found at Hornbacher's!  I followed the instructions on the bag.

Lewis's Disguise Fruit Hat

Goob's Juice Box
We went with Capri Sun for nostalgia sake.

The Man in the Bowler Hat Cookies
I separated an Oreo and put the cream filling up and added a brownie bite to the top.

Ant-Man Dinner

What's more "summer-y" than ants??
That's why we decided to do a dinner for Ant-Man!

For dinner we had Falcon Wings, Yellow Jacket's Honey Glazed Carrots, Ant-Man On A Log, Pym Particle Potion, and Baskin-Robbins' Ice Cream.

Falcon Wings
We modified this delicious recipe here.

Ingredients:
3lbs of wings
1/2 teaspoon of cumin
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 teaspoon of salt- separated
1/2 teaspoon of chili powder
1 teaspoon of cajun seasoning
1 teaspoon of onion powder
2 Tablespoons of baking powder
1/4 cup of Parmesan
1/4 cup of fresh parsley
3 cloves of garlic
5 Tablespoons of butter
2 sprigs of fresh thyme

Directions:
1. Combine cumin, garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, chili powder, cajun seasoning, onion powder,  and baking powder in a ziploc bag and add the wings.  Shake it up and place in the fridge for at least an hour, overnight if possible.
2. Preheat the oven to 250 F.
3. Place wings in a baking dish and bake for 30 minutes.
4. Turn heat up to 450 F and bake for 50 more minutes turning wings halfway through.
5. While that is cooking, in a saucepan add parsley, garlic, butter, and time.  Cook until butter is fully melted and then 1-2 minutes more.
6. Toss wings in butter sauce and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.  Serve immediately.

Yellow Jacket's Honey Glazed Carrots
I used this glorious recipe!

Ingredients:
2 Tablespoons of unsalted butter
16oz bag of baby carrots
2 Tablespoons of honey
2 Tablespoons of brown sugar
2 teaspoons of fresh dill
2 teaspoons of thyme leaves

Directions:
1. Melt butter in a skillet on medium heat.
2. Add carrots, honey, brown sugar, dill, and thyme and gently toss to combine.
3. Cook until carrots are tender (about 15 minutes).

Maddie had her own version: Carrots, Pear, Ginger

Ant-Man On A Log
This is just your standard ants on a log with celery, peanut butter, raisins or dried cranberries.

Pym Particle Potion
We used V8 Strawberry Pineapple Juice and Club Soda.  It was so refreshing!

Baskin-Robbins' Ice Cream
We chose Rocky Road Ice Cream.

Brave Dinner

We've been reading the Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls book and it has been a hit.  Because of that, we are always looking for strong female role models for our lovely ladies and Merida from Brave is exactly that!  So we decided to do a dinner for Brave.

For dinner we had Bullseye Pizza, Scotch Eggs, Merida's Red Haired Pasta, Will o' the Wisp Cocktail, and Scottish Buns.

Bullseye Pizza
We made a pizza with a Boboli pre-made crust, tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperonis.  We cooked the pizza to package directions.

Scotch Eggs
I used this recipe here but baked in the oven instead of stovetop frying for safety.

Ingredients:
1/2 of ground sausage
1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
2 hard-boiled eggs
1/2 Tablespoon of flour
A pinch of salt
A pinch of black pepper
1 egg, beaten
1/3 cup of Panko bread crumbs

Directions:
1. Mix together sausage, Worchestershire sauce, flour, salt, and pepper.
2. Divide the sausage mixture in half and mold around the hard-boiled eggs to shape.
3. Put beaten egg in a dish and put the bread crumbs in another dish.
4. Dip the sausage covered egg into the beaten egg mixture and roll in bread crumbs until coated.
5.  Bake in the oven on 400 degrees for 35 minutes until golden brown.

Merida's Red Haired Pasta
Red sauce with Rotini pasta cooked to package directions.

Will o' the Wisp Cocktail
Champagne and a small amount of Blue Curacao.  I had blue sugar that I put around the rim.

Scottish Buns
Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls made to package directions and adding a dried cranberry on top.

"There are those who say fate is something beyond our command.  That destiny is not our own, but I know better.  Our fate lives within us, you only have to be brave enough to see it. " - Merida

To my very own Rebel girls!
