Rescuers Down Under Dinner

Rescuers Down Under is a favorite for Tim!  We really enjoyed revisiting an old classic!

For dinner we had Pea Soup, Joanna's Poached Eggs, Albatross's Sausage Rolls, Bernard and Bianca's Celebratory Champagne, and Marahute Cookies.

Pea Soup
We just got split pea soup from the grocery store!

*This scene stood out to me when Bernard and Bianca are at the restaurant at the beginning of the movie - for sure Ratatouille vibes here!

Joanna's poached Eggs
Tim learned how to poach eggs for this movie!  I can't even speak as to what the hell he did but here are some tips if you want to poach your own eggs.

Albatross's Sausage Rolls
These were DELICIOUS!

This Australian dish is also inspired by the aerial moves by Albatross.

Ingredients:

16oz of Jimmy Dean Pork Sausage
1 package of puff pastry, thawed to package directions
3/4 cup of Italian bread crumbs
1/3 cup of milk
1 teaspoon of garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon of paprika
1 egg
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
2. Unfold dough and cut into 4 equal pieces per sheet of dough
3. Combine sausage, bread crumbs, milk, garlic, paprika, salt and pepper in a large bowl.
4. Spoon sausage mix into the dough sections.
5. Roll up pastry around sausage and pinch the seam together.
6. Place on baking sheet and brush each roll with egg wash (1 egg plus 1 tablespoon of water) and sprinkle with paprika.
7. Bake for 5 minutes then reduce heat to 350 degrees and continue baking for 30 minutes.

Bernard and Miss Bianca's Celebratory Champagne
(you got me, it's a White Claw!)

Marahute's Cookie

This sorta was a pinterest fail.  It's supposed to be an eagle face but Tim thinks it looks like the nest with eggs and I'm just happy it resembles something from the movie.

Ingredients:

Milano cookies
Chocolate wafers, melted
Shredded coconut
Chocolate chips
Almond slices

Directions

1. Dip cookies in melted chocolate
2. Cover with coconut
3. Add a chocolate chip for an eye (?)
4. Almond slices for collar and beak or eggs?

The Greatest Showman Party (Olivia's 3rd Birthday)

OLIVIA IS THREE!  We had a great day celebrating her party!  We had a Greatest Showman Themed Party and Olivia couldn't have been more excited!

For dinner we had Dogman's Corn Dogs, Strong Man's Barbells, Circus Peanuts and Popcorn, Jenny Lind's Champagne (and sparkling grape juice), Barnum's Animal Crackers and our Greatest Showman cake!

Dogman's Corn Dogs
We got freezer corn dogs and made them according to package instructions.  Serve with Ketchup and Mustard!

Strong Man's Barbells
I used this delicious meatball recipe and put a pretzel rod on either side.

Circus Peanuts and Popcorn

Jenny Lind's Champagne (and sparkling grape juice)

*NOT PICTURED* (because I apparently had wayyyy too much Champagne- just kidding)

Barnum's Animal Crackers
The official Barnum ones were not frosted so while I was buying animal crackers, I also got frosted.  Life is short.

THE Greatest Showman cake
I can't take ANY credit for this wonderful cake!  Central Market in Detroit Lakes has always done a fabulous job but they have REALLY outdone themselves this year!  How incredible!

Photo Booth Fun!
