We finished Mad Men for the second time. What a solid show! It was definitely better the second time around. Anyway, we struggled to come up with ideas for the dinner! We could have done a swanky sixties soiree but I'm not a fan of saying "Don's Deviled Eggs" without that making some sort of sense. After we got part way through, Tim and I both thought about doing foods that represent the different advertising accounts from Sterling Cooper (Draper Pryce; Draper Pryce Cutler Gleason and Chaough). We had a fun time!
For dinner, we had Burger Chef Burgers, Heinz Baked Beans, Sunkist's Box of Oranges, Coca Cola, Hershey Chocolate Fondue and we threw in an Old Fashioned, Don's drink of choice!
Burger Chef Burgers
Tim made up burgers on the stove and we served them with cheese and Heinz ketchup!
Heinz Baked Beans
We cooked up baked beans on the stove.
Sunkist's Box of Oranges
We got some Halo oranges.
Coca Cola
Hershey Chocolate Fondue
Ingredients:
2 cups of Special Dark Hershey's Chocolate Chips
1.5 cups of Half and Half
Directions:
Place chocolate and half and half in the fondue pot and set to 200 degrees until chocolate chips have melted.
Serve with strawberries, orange slices, and croissants (which are French, like Megan!)
Old Fashioned
Ingredients:
2oz of Bourbon
1.5 teaspoons of Simple Sugar
4 dashes of Angostura Bitters
Serve over ice with a Maraschino cherry and an orange slice.
Here's our fabulous drink cart that my grandparents refurbished for me! Hooray!
